I knew Jon from way back - when I left Seafish and joined Sainsbury's at the turn of the Millenium and then moved to Tesco when we started to share many a good brainstorm on how to improve the fish industry through Seafish. Initiatives were Jon's forte and as a large levy payer when I joined Birds Eye - he would always test his ideas with me and we would have robust discussion to put it politely. I respected his forthright approach and honesty and he mine - Jon was never in awe of 'large business' and he was one of the few people I would allow to call me 'Haj'. We shared a joint desire to help the fish industry. My last contact with hm was to put the ASMI story on the Birds Eye sustainability website just a few months ago and was as chirpy as ever. .
